Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Audrey is a sweet old gal. She really needs a special person.
Audrey is a beautiful senior Chihuahua that came from a very abusive past. She landed in the shelter with a large hernia and a mouth filled with rotten teeth. She was also scared to death of being touched. She would scream, then run and hide.
After rescuing Audrey from the shelter, we worked with her many times a day and she finally quit screaming. She would let us pet her - she actually loved it and would wag her little tail. Unfortunately, her surgery to repair the hernia (which was caused by a botched cesarean in her past), and then her dental surgery set her back. Sadly, the screaming started again. The surgeries and time at the vet hospital were traumatic for Audrey. So, we're once again working with her daily, and she is screaming less and less - and she is begging for attention!
**Audrey needs a very patient and persistent person to help her feel safe and let her know she will never have to suffer again. It takes a special person to rehab a dog whose spirit has suffered so, but we have met several angels who do this loving work. Are you one of them? If so, Audrey needs you!
Here’s what her foster mom shared with us:
“Audrey is really such a sweet girl! She is now wagging her tail again, she is excited about food, and she is accepting some petting. Audrey loves to sleep in a pile of blankets - always underneath them with her little face peeking out. She enjoys running in the yard and laying in the sun. She is even beginning to show an interest in playing with toys! She gets along fine with other dogs but tends to keep to herself. She's really good about going potty outdoors, but we're not sure that she's 100% housebroken.”
Is Audrey the one you have been waiting for? She really is such a dear and special little girl.
