Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sweet, sweet Archie. This handsome Chi mix should be known as ‘The Dog Whose Spirit Could Not Be Broken’.
Nine-year-old Archie led a pretty sad life before coming to us at Harley's Dream. When a shelter director reached out to us with this plea for help, we knew we had to help! Her message was: “Please, can you help? This little guy was brought to the shelter for biting one of the older children in the home (minor tooth scratch) because the 16-year-old was kicking him into his kennel. They have had the dog since he was 11 months old (he previously lived with the owner’s mother). The kids in the home tormented him, causing him to have anxiety. They used a broom to move him around in the household and he eventually lived primarily in the garage. He's fearful. He has periodontal disease and he has seizures." How could we say no? Archie is SAFE now and learning what it is to be a dog in a loving, kind home. He deserves that. And so much more.
Here’s what his foster mom shared with us:
“Archie is the sweetest little snuggler. He loves to give kisses and really likes to get a game of fetch or tug in his daily routine. He has learned to use the doggie door and the doggie stairs to get on the bed or couch. He just likes being with a human, he doesn’t exactly have a ‘person’ yet just likes to be near someone. His favorite spot is sitting in a chair near where the people are. He just needs a place to hang out and doesn’t make much noise at all.”
Archie is a perfect example of a dog’s resilience and openness to forgiving humans. And he is already coming out of his shell and blooming in his foster home! He wanted love for 9 years, and we have promised him that his days from here on will only know love, kindness, and gentle touch. Archie wants you to know that he is good with other small dogs, but can be picky about dogs that are bigger than him. He’s potty trained and looks forward to showing off his leash walking skills. He will need a home without young children so that he has the best chance to thrive. This little guy deserves every chance to be a good boy, to have a ‘Second Chance at a Good Life’ - is that with you?
