My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bear - male

Age:  approx. 5 years

Breed: Golden Retriever

There is only one word to describe him -Bear  AWESOME!  Great with other dogs and kids (no idea about cats) he is the epitome of what is excepted of his breed.  However,  Bear has retinal degeneration which means he cannot see at night and may possibly go completely blind over time but in no way will have an impact on his longevity.  He sees in day light and still loves to chase his ball and LOVES car rides but his sudden night blindness has caused mild separation anxiety therefore a home whose family is frequently home or not gone long hours would be best suited for him.  Bear was a highly desirable dog with many applications but once we discovered his condition suddenly nobody wanted him but we believe there is a home who will appreciate his awesomeness.  Already abandoned by his previous family, he deserves a home who will love him no matter if he can see or not.

We do not adopt out of state and do not place dogs on a first come first serve basis but rather to the home that is best suited for each particular dog and breed.  An application, home check, contract and fee are required for adoptions.  All dogs will be or required to be spayed/neutered NO EXCEPTIONS, current on vaccinations and mircochiped before adoption.  Our adoption fee is $350 for puppies 8 weeks - 2 years, $300 2 - 5 years and $250 for dogs over 5 years.  Adoption fee covers everything mentioned above in addition to any additional medical expenses a health check with our vet and of course all the love and daily care we take with each dog before they are adopted.

We believe a well behaved dog is a happy dog & companion.  Therefore, we require at least one session with one of our recommended trainers for a reduced fee of $200 paid directly to the trainer which is not included in the adoption fee.

For additional information/questions, please feel free to email us at muttmatchla@aol.com.  For adoption consideration visit us at www.muttmatchla.org to submit an application.  We are an all volunteer rescue, please allow at least 48 hours for a response.

Thank you, we look forward to hearing from you soon
