My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

* Currently in Texas * Frank was spotted at a gas station eating moldy hot dogs in Texas. Rescue worked for weeks to trap him. He was finally caught and taken in. Frank is about 4 years old and 53 lbs. As with most adult dogs, Frank needs slow introductions to other dogs. He is potty trained. He can sleep in the kennel at night as long as the kennel is in the same room his people. He sometimes sleeps outside the kennel, or in bed with his fosters. He may get protective of his home or people as he builds attachment. He needs time with new people. He should be on a leash when a guest arrives, until the guest is sitting down. Frank will lay around them and sniff them but needs time before the guest can pet him.

He goes by Frank, Franko, Frankster, Frankie…
I am a potty trained, happy and easy boy. I love walks and car rides, and am great on a leash. I don’t chew on anything that isn’t mine. I’ve had a rough life and need some time to get to know new people, but once I do, I want nothing more than to be with them. I love toys and anything edible! I know Sit and Down.

Here is a “little” more about me from my foster mom:

Frank is our precious foster, been with us almost 6 months now and we absolutely adore him. He was spotted by an angel, at a gas station, eating moldy hot dogs. She put out a plea for him, Straight Outta Texas Rescue gave him a chance, a village got together, and got this boy off the streets.

Frank maintained his distance when he first came to us. He started taking his chance at trusting us and within a week, he let us pet him. As time went by, he got closer and more comfortable with us, and is now our shadow!

He was terrified of everything - from stepping out of the house, to getting in the car, to smallest of the dogs or people we encountered on walks, and everything in between. Now, he LOVES car rides and walks, has been getting more comfortable with new people petting him after them giving him some time to get comfy, and just learning to live and enjoy life!

He used to sleep in the kennel overnight but has been sleeping in bed with us and we love it! He listens well and will learn to not jump up on the bed, if trained to do so. He has some separation anxiety (can you blame him? ) and would scratch the doors when we left. Frank has come a LONG WAY and now patiently waits for us to come back. And we put up scratch guards ?. We have left him for over 24 hours and have not had any issues.

Frank is a wonderful dog. He just needs a patient adopter who can understand that giving him a little bit of time will be so rewarding and will let this boy gain some confidence in his new home and parents. He would be best as the only fur-baby in the house or with a submissive dog.

Frank is believed to be a Shiloh Shepherd.

All of our available adoptable dogs are on Facebook, Petfinder, Adopt a Pet and our website. If a dog is no longer listed it means they have an adoption pending.

We are a nonprofit organization - all adoption fees go towards the rescue and veterinary care of these dogs in order to get them ready for their forever homes. The transport fee is an additional $206.89.

We are a shelterless rescue. All of our dogs are housed in foster homes to help them de-stress and get used to a home environment while they await adoption, giving us the opportunity to understand their personalities and needs.
