My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi guys! My name is Jupiter! You may know Jupiter to be the biggest planet in our solar system, but I promise that it isn’t big enough to hold my love for my future fur-ever family (and peanut butter). The humans claim I’m really goofy, but I just like to make sure everyone is happy and having a good time. I love to play. I love to play with toys. Fetch is one of my favorite games. I am a great jogging partner. I love tackling my human friends to give them lots of kisses, all the kisses I have. I love people and I want to be right next to them as much as possible. Companionship is the best thing in the whole world. And, peanut butter. I love peanut butter treats and I love peanut butter puzzles and I love peanut butter! Also, chin scratches. I will do absolutely anything to get them from my humans, then I will cover them in kisses. I hope my future family has a lot of toys and treats and peanut butter to keep me busy, because I have a lot of energy. I am active, playful and ready to go. I like long walks, especially when those peanut butter treats are involved. I also really, really, really like stuffed Kongs because PEANUT BUTTER!!!!! Today, the human put peanut butter AND peanut butter treats in my Kong and I thought it might be Christmas. It was amaaaaaaaziiiiing. I ride well in the car and I am housetrained. If a smart, affectionate, loyal and playful pup is the right pet for you, please apply for me today! You'll be so glad you did! Apply to adopt today (and please bring the peanut butter)! Adoption fee: $80. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 30 days of free pet insurance, one session with a certified behavior trainer and microchip.

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Why is labeling a dog such a big deal? A label will stick with a dog for the rest of its life. A label can mean discrimination, losing its home or even death. Labels are a problem for the dogs when we, as the local experts on animals, allow adopters, politicians and community members to think that the label we assign can predict who that dog is or will be.

Adoption Process:
Complete the application at www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.
