Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Trigger is a 3 year old black-tri male Australian Shepherd. He is one of the sweetest, calmest Aussies his foster Mom has seen. Trigger is on the lower energy spectrum for Aussies, but don’t let that fool you. He is still 100% Australian Shepherd.
Trigger enjoys going for walks or simply being with his people. He would be happy to be a hiking or walking sidekick. He does tend to be a bit more cautious with men than women, but after a slow introduction, he will be anyone’s best friend. He does not let you stop petting once you’ve started. He is very gentle, but uses his paw to try to get your arm back on him for additional petting.
Trigger has a little bit of separation anxiety that his foster home is working on. She has been leaving him for short times to show him that he has not been abandoned. He is not destructive during that time, but is visibly shaking upon her return. For this reason, his ideal adopter would not be gone long hours and definitely should continue working on this area of training. He is crate trained, but the crate isn’t his ideal place. Again, this is likely due to some of his separation anxiety. He did have run of the house a few periods of time (when he figured out the handle) and did perfectly fine during that time out of his crate.
Trigger is good around other dogs. He doesn’t necessarily seem to want to play but is fine with them being around. He has not been tested with cats. Little ones make him nervous, so no kids under 12 years of age are recommended for him. He does accept petting from respectful, gentle, dog-savvy children.
Trigger is a smart, gentle soul that simply wants to please. If you let him know he’s doing something wrong, he stops immediately. He knows the following commands: sit, stay, and come (recall).
Trigger is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations. He is also taking monthly preventatives for fleas/ticks and heartworms. Monthly preventatives are required for adoption.
Trigger is being fostered in Griffith, IN.
