Hi! My name is Venus. My caretakers at RCHS would describe me as being in the BLUE category. Cats in the BLUE category will need experienced adopters. Ideally, adopters of cats in the BLUE category will be knowledgeable in the area(s) the cat will be challenging; therefore, adopters should be willing to participate in a training plan to further the work RCHS staff and volunteers already have started.
Hi! My name is Vincenzo. My caretakers at RCHS would describe me as being in the ORANGE category. Cats in the ORANGE category have the potential to be timid or nervous when first settling in. They would be best for adopters who previously had a cat and are willing to give a cat time and space to gain confidence. Usually, cats in this category take less time to become comfortable than those in the purple category.
Cats are assigned color categories using any previous owner notes, general handling, as well as staff and volunteer observations. As we continue to get to know the cats and gather further insights into their personalities, colors may be adjusted accordingly.
Rancho Coastal adopts out kittens starting at 8 weeks of age. Many of them have been in foster homes for weeks and were even bottle-fed. If you are thinking about bringing home kittens, be sure to consider your time away from home and the ages of your family members. Kittens between the ages of 8-11 weeks old need more attention and care than older kittens. They need continued training and play time, and are generally better with older children. Kittens that are 4 months and older make better companions for young children and are generally more gentle during play.
Rancho Coastal encourages adopting kittens in pairs, which is why we have created our “Two Purr One” Program: if you choose to adopt a pair of kittens, the second kitten has a waived adoption fee. Behaviorists recommend pairs because kittens benefit from the companionship and because they are more entertained, they do less damage around your home.
If interested in adopting Venus and Vincenzo, an adoption survey and instructions can be found on our website. We are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.
Adoption Hours: Friday-Monday; 11 AM to 2 PM
