My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hades is a smart, high-energy boy with a big personality and a few special needs. He can be a bit shy when meeting new people and will need slow introductions on his time to help him feel at ease. One thing about Hades is his love for food and toys! He is absolutely obsessed! However, he may need guidance to work through some resource-guarding behaviors, so an experienced owner who can help him succeed would be ideal for him.

As a high-energy breed, Hades thrives on staying busy. He’ll need plenty of physical and mental activities to keep him happy and engaged. With a strong prey drive, he’s looking for a home without cats or small animals. He’s also hoping to be the only dog in the home so he can soak up all the love and attention. Additionally, we recommend a home with no children (adults only).

Hades may have some unique needs, but he’s incredibly sweet and great companion to have. If you are the one ready to give this special boy the structure and love he deserves, come meet him today!

More about this shelter

WHO WE ARE

The Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS) (formerly the Tippecanoe County Humane Society) was founded in 1939 by a group of local animal lovers in Tippecanoe County. Since its beginning more than 60 years ago, the organization has been dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community.

We are not a government agency, are not affiliated with any national organization, and we are not a United Way Agency. We are an open-admission shelter and we accept all animals in need, regardless of age, health or adoptability. As a local non-profit we exist through the generosity of our community.

MISSION STATEMENT

We, the Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS), care deeply about the comfort and rights of animals and citizens within our area. As such, we strive to enhance the relationship between people and animals through education, to control the pet population through responsible advocacy, and to provide sanctuary for unwanted, lost, and neglected animals.

NON-PROFIT STATUS

The Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS) is an independent, nonprofit agency. We are not funded by any governmental or national animal welfare organization. We are a private, non-profit 501(c) 3 organization dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, relief of suffering among animals and the extension of humane education, and we are governed by a volunteer board of directors.
