Baxter is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so he is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home.
Baxter was saved from a fast kill, small town, dog pound. He is older, maybe 2-3 years old, Chihuahua mix weighing 12 pounds. Baxter is a very sweet and quiet little dog. He loves affection and gives lots of kisses. We think he is a bit overwhelmed by all the rambunctious pups in his foster home, some of which like to pick on him. Baxter would blossom in a home where he is the only dog or with one other nice dog. He probably would also do well with cats. Baxter spends most of his day curled up on the couch. He sleeps in a crate at night but would prefer to have free reign of the house. Baxter is very well behaved in the house and might be house trained (no guarantees). He is a good boy but additional obedience training wouldn't hurt. Baxter is small and must be protected from rough treatment by children or big dogs that can hurt him. He must also be protected from outdoor predators and large raptors that would consider him dinner. Baxter must be in the house as a loved member of the family. He must be walked on a leash and would like a secure, fenced yard to run and play.
Baxter is healthy. He has been treated for heartworms and is now heartworm-free. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and is receiving monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Baxter has a $500.00 adoption fee that includes ground transport via Mightly Mutt Shipping for pickup in White River Junction VT, Brattleboro VT, Nashua NH, or Hampton NH. He is being fostered in Texas and will not be sent north until after he is adopted.
