Anybody looking for an oversized goofball?

Herold is so silly and a very sweet boy. He loves to be out in the play yard with his dog friend, Ember. He loves rope toys and he is happy to play tug with Ember or with our volunteers.

Herold absolutely loves to be close to you. He will get as close to you as possible. He is an affectionate boy who thinks he is a lap dog at times.

Herold knows how to sit, especially if treats are involved. He will need manners training as he is a large boy who wants to jump up on you to say hi.

A message from Herold: I am a 4-5 year old, 67 lb. male. I am very underweight. Lighthouse is working on fattening me up. Expect me to weigh more than 67 lb. once I am my ideal weight.

We do not adopt on a first-come-first-serve basis, but rather by the best match between dog and family, although we will factor in the order of applications if there are equally good matches.

Please call all of your references (landlord if applicable, vet offices, and personal references) before filling out an application to let them know that we will be calling. We are an all-volunteer program and volunteers often make reference calls from their cell phone. It will be a number your personal reference does not recognize. We understand most people will screen their calls from unknown numbers so please tell them to keep an eye on their voicemail and give the volunteer a call back at their earliest convenience. We may end up playing phone tag with your personal references but will reach out to you if we need further assistance in reaching them.

Once we receive your application, we will check home ownership or landlord permission, personal references and vet references. We will reach out to you if we have questions during the process.

Our adoption fee for adult dogs is $450 which covers the costs of vetting (spay, vaccinations, heartworm testing, preventatives while in our care, deworming and microchip) and any boarding or transport fees incurred in each dog's rescue. Senior dogs are $250.
