Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.

Bertha is a lower energy girl who is looking for her forever cuddle partner.
She has completely won over the hearts of our volunteers in a very short amount of time. Her foster family has spoken very highly of her, too! She is incredibly sweet (always ready to give kisses) and has been a breeze to take care of. She is quiet indoors, well-behaved in her crate, and knows how to sit (sometimes...when she is feeling motivated!).
She is a very polite girl...doesn't jump up on you at all! She just patiently waits for you to say hi.
Bertha is friendly with other dogs.
Bertha is currently on a special diet. She eats Royal Canin Gastrointestinal low-fat food. It is possible that in the future she will no longer need this prescription diet, but at the moment she is doing very well on it!
A message from Bertha: I am a 3-year-old, 68 lb. female (I am overweight)
My paperwork says I am an American Pitbull Terrier Mix
Dogs: I am friendly with other dogs
Cats: I haven't met those yet

We do not adopt on a first-come-first-serve basis, but rather by the best match between dog and family, although we will factor in the order of applications if there are equally good matches.
Please call all of your references (landlord if applicable, vet offices, and personal references) before filling out an application to let them know that we will be calling. We are an all-volunteer program and volunteers often make reference calls from their cell phone. It will be a number your personal reference does not recognize. We understand most people will screen their calls from unknown numbers so please tell them to keep an eye on their voicemail and give the volunteer a call back at their earliest convenience. We may end up playing phone tag with your personal references but will reach out to you if we need further assistance in reaching them.
Once we receive your application, we will check home ownership or landlord permission, personal references and vet references. We will reach out to you if we have questions during the process.
Our adoption fee for adult dogs is $450 which covers the costs of vetting (spay, vaccinations, heartworm testing, preventatives while in our care, deworming and microchip) and any boarding or transport fees incurred in each dog's rescue. Senior dogs are $250.
