My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If interested in adopting from Lighthouse please fill out our adoption application. Instructions on how to fill out our online application are on our website here: https://www.lighthouseanimalshelter.org/application-instructions

Visitors are currently limited to approved applicants only. We will contact you when your application is fully processed to set up a time for you to meet our dogs.

Ranger loves to give kisses and sometimes thinks he is a lap dog despite his size! He knows how to sit and is very food motivated.

Before being transported to Massachusetts, Ranger was in a foster home. They reported that he is house trained, loves to spend time on the couch, and is a big goofball that constantly kept them laughing.

Ranger hasn't been introduced to other dogs at our shelter yet but he has passed by other dogs with no problem at all and his foster expressed that he was friendly with other pups.

Ranger's favorite activites are: playing with a tennis ball, sun bathing, and getting belly rubs from the volunteers. He is pretty laid-back but will benefit from a forever family who is confident handling a large pup as he is quite strong and has his stubborn moments...usually when he has found a comfy spot to sun bathe in and doesn't want to go back inside.

A message from Ranger: I am an 8 year old, 86 lb. male
My paperwork says I am a Staffordshire Terrier Mix but the volunteers think I am probably an American Bulldog/Boxer mix.
Dogs: I think I would like dogs!
Cats: I haven't met those yet

We do not adopt on a first-come-first-serve basis, but rather by the best match between dog and family, although we will factor in the order of applications if there are equally good matches.

Please call all of your references (landlord if applicable, vet offices, and personal references) before filling out an application to let them know that we will be calling. We are an all-volunteer program and volunteers often make reference calls from their cell phone. It will be a number your personal reference does not recognize. We understand most people will screen their calls from unknown numbers so please tell them to keep an eye on their voicemail and give the volunteer a call back at their earliest convenience. We may end up playing phone tag with your personal references but will reach out to you if we need further assistance in reaching them.

Once we receive your application, we will check home ownership or landlord permission, personal references and vet references. We will reach out to you if we have questions during the process.

Our adoption fee for adult dogs is $450 which covers the costs of vetting (spay, vaccinations, heartworm testing, preventatives while in our care, deworming and microchip) and any boarding or transport fees incurred in each dog's rescue. Senior dogs are $250.
