Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Mountaineer is a medium-energy boy who loves to play fetch. He is very tennis ball obsessed and his ears perk up immediately once you pick up a tennis ball.
He is very well-behaved in his crate. He never has accidents and doesn't make a peep. When he knows it's his turn to go outside, he'll jump up and spin in a circle out of excitement.
Mountaineer likes to go on walks with his favorite volunteers and prefers when other dogs join him on the walk. He can be a nervous nelly at first but once he realizes all of his friends are with him, his tail is up and wagging.
He will need a forever family who is comfortable handling a dog who is anxious in new situations. He has made a lot of progress since he first got to Lighthouse and will continue to make more in a home setting. Even though he has his shy moments, he also has a very silly, fun side. He is more confident when his dog friends are around.
He would love a fully fenced, secure yard that he can play fetch in.
He can not live with children or spend time with children. Mountaineer needs an all adult home that is on the quiet side.
A message from Mountaineer: I am a 1 and a half - 2 year old, 65 lb. male
My paperwork says I am a Lab mix
Dogs: I like to play with other dogs
Cats: I haven't met those yet
I need an all adult home

We do not adopt on a first-come-first-serve basis, but rather by the best match between dog and family, although we will factor in the order of applications if there are equally good matches.
Please call all of your references (landlord if applicable, vet offices, and personal references) before filling out an application to let them know that we will be calling. We are an all-volunteer program and volunteers often make reference calls from their cell phone. It will be a number your personal reference does not recognize. We understand most people will screen their calls from unknown numbers so please tell them to keep an eye on their voicemail and give the volunteer a call back at their earliest convenience. We may end up playing phone tag with your personal references but will reach out to you if we need further assistance in reaching them.
Once we receive your application, we will check home ownership or landlord permission, personal references and vet references. We will reach out to you if we have questions during the process.
Our adoption fee for adult dogs is $450 which covers the costs of vetting (spay, vaccinations, heartworm testing, preventatives while in our care, deworming and microchip) and any boarding or transport fees incurred in each dog's rescue. Senior dogs are $250.
