Hello, my name is Cupid and I am a 3 year old red heeler looking for my furever home.
I am an active and playful boy who loves balls, bones and toys. I love to play with other dogs so please have a playful brother or sister for me to play with. Though I could be a good only dog if my person took me on adventures and I wasn’t home alone a lot.

I am house trained and crate trained, though sometimes I can’t help but explore counter tops if you aren’t looking! I am a true cattle dog and sometimes I cannot help my breed idiosyncrasies. I sometimes show guarding behavior when I don’t feel comfortable, I will need a family with breed experience who understands me and are patient. I am a good boy in the house and my favorite activity is sleeping on the couch or in front of the fire. I absolutely love to cuddle!

Sometimes I show guarding behavior so I need a person who understands me and does not have young children. I just want to be loved and have my own person to play with me and take me for walks or runs. I would be a good working dog and would be great at agility or your hiking partner. I do have herding instincts, and think that cars could be fun to herd. I would need a fenced in back yard in a rural location so I am not tempted to chase cars. Though I have some things to work on, I am a good, goofy and sweet boy. Please consider adding me to your family.

If you are interested in adopting Cupid, visit our website and download the application: http://www.nehoularescue.com/adoption-application.html Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.
If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.
Cupid’s adoption donation is $400 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test when appropriate and is on preventative, microchip, and neuter. We do not have a physical shelter, all of our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
