Here's what the humans have to say about me:
10/10/2021 UPDATES: Rudy has come alive in his foster home and has shown us his real loving personality! He is great with other dogs and with kids! He rides well in cars and loves all the humans he meets!
Meet Rudy! We rescued Rudy from a kill shelter in South Carolina as a 10 week old puppy. He was on death row because he had a fractured femur that needed orthopedic surgery. We had a vet perform the surgery, and he was quickly adopted out! He spent 4 years with his doting mom, but sadly, she had an injury and is currently wheelchair bound and is no longer able to care for Rudy. Our adoption contract requires our pets come back to us if they ever need to be rehomed, so we are once again seeking a forever family for Rudy.
Rudy is a really special guy. His leg is fully healed now and he is ready to go on many adventures! At 4 years old, he is young enough to keep up with an active family, but settled enough to not be high maintenance. He has outgrown his destructive puppy phase.
Rudy is described as a mellow guy, even a little on the lazy side of things. He is pretty easy to please. He enjoys a soft bed to sleep on. Occasionally he will grab a toy to play with all by himself, but he also will play with his humans. He loves to go for walks, usually once a day he gets the zoomies and runs laps around the fenced yard. He does like to chase a ball - he will not being it back but loves to run after it. He loves belly rubs and likes to be brushed. He is a lover and is seeking a family that will include him in their lives in all aspects.
Rudy rides well in the car and gets along with everyone he meets. He is being fostered with a family who has 5 year old and 8 year old grandkids and he is great with them! He has spent weekends at friends' houses and has gotten along well even with dogs who normally don't like other dogs. We don't recommend him around small animals. He has been around cats, but will give chase to cats not used to dogs/him who run or hiss at him.
Rudy is currently 4 years old, 65 lbs, and we cannot be sure of his breed mix so we totally guessed based on his appearance and personality! No guarantees! He is fully vetted, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date on Heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention. His vet has given him a clean bill of health.
We always place dogs into homes with the intent that it will be their forever family. This was no different when we adopted Rudy out as a puppy. Unfortunately, however, he has found himself in a situation no one could have predicted or prevented, and so he is seeking a family or person who is committed to being his forever person/family. Rudy is currently in a loving foster home, awaiting his new family to find him!
