Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, my name is Walter! I’m an 80lb hound mix and am between 3 to 5 years old. I was found wondering the streets, no doubt following a scent, and arrived as a stray.
When I arrived here, I weighed a hefty 98lbs. Whoever had been looking after me was giving me lots of treats, but my caretakers at the shelter have been assisting me in my weight loss journey. My forever home will need to continue to keep me on a diet (no free feeding/food left out always) and keep trash hidden away, for I will eat anything in my reach.
I’m an extremely loving boy, and very vocal (typical hound traits). I am strong and do pull on leash, and will need more basic manners training in my new home.
I am full of personality, quick to like new people, and will never fail to make you laugh and shake your head at the silly things I “say” and do. I’m very excited about new animals, so slow introductions would be best. I don’t know my size when it comes to cats and other small animals, and am very eager to give them a sniff and to play chase. This is just for my future family members to note when it comes time to meeting furry friends.
Since being at the shelter, I’ve been neutered, vaccinated for DAPP and Rabies, and microchipped. I also tested negative for heartworm. My adoption fee is $150 (+ $20 county dog license, if residing within Jefferson County).
ADOPTION PROCEDURE: HSJC is currently CLOSED to the public. We are accepting applications for Walter, and you can submit one via our website here: https://hsjcwa.org/adopt-a-dog
We do not ship animals, and due to COVID and border issues cannot adopt to Canada at this time.
If we find an applicant who seems to match Walter well, we will contact you to schedule a time for you to meet him at our facility. If you have trouble submitting your application, please send an inquiry and we can email you one!
