Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This is a courtesy post for another rural rescuer. Delilah came to this rescue when she was about 6 years old. When she arrived she was put in an outdoor kennel with another dog. They slept in their doghouse together but one day a squirrel ran across the top of the fence and they got into a fight. The other dog had Delilah by the throat when the staff ran out to break them up.
Delilah was put in with another dog and they were together over a year. Unfortunately the staff came in one morning and it looked like Delilah had killed the other dog. The manager thinks a squirrel got into the kennel and the dogs got into a frenzy and started fighting resulting in the other dog's death. Because of this Delilah needs to be an only pet.
Delilah was recently moved into a kennel that has an indoor and outdoor area and she never goes to the bathroom in her indoor area. She has always been a very clean dog.
Delilah has been at this shelter about 6 years. It is a rural shelter that has very few adoptions and because Delilah needs to be an only pet, they have not been able to send her to another rescue. We would all love to see her spend her senior years in a home where she will be loved and pampered. Delilah has never been around children or cats that we know of but she loves every person she meets.
Delilah is currently recovering from acl surgery and it is heartbreaking that her recovery is taking place at the shelter instead of a loving indoor home.
The manager of this shelter has asked me to help find the right home for Delilah. If you are interested in adopting Delilah, please contact me for an application or to ask any questions.
An indoor home is required to be able to adopt her. Anyone wanting to tie a dog outside or keep in an outside kennel will not be considered. We will require a home visit to make sure the home is right for Delilah. After 6 years in a kennel we want to make sure she has the perfect family for her.
