Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mr. Magoo is a fun, silly, medium energy guy. He loves to be out in the yard playing with his dog buddies. He has met several dogs in our play yard and has been on walks with other pups too. He has gotten along with every dog he's been introduced to! He likes a good game of chase. He will sometimes play fetch while other times all he wants to do is spend time giving you kisses.
Mr. Magoo is an outgoing boy who loves attention from our volunteers and likes to meet new people. He doesn't seem to know what the word "stranger" means. He'll approach anybody for some pets!
Mr. Magoo would do well with a family who wants an adventure buddy. He is an energetic dog who would like to explore new places. He has been on a few walks with our volunteers. With a little bit of leash training, he will make a great walking partner! He does well passing by people and dogs while walking. At times he will pull because he wants to say hello to others passing by or wants to stop to investigate/sniff a new space.
Mr. Magoo will need a little bit of manners training as he can be jumpy when meeting new people. He is just very eager to meet you!
A message from Mr. Magoo: I am a 2 year old, 40 lb. male
My paperwork says I am a Hound Mix
Dogs: I love the company of other dogs.
Cats: blek, cats are a no for me! I want to chase and bark at them.
Kids: I love kids!

If interested in adopting from Lighthouse please fill out our adoption application. Instructions on how to fill out our online application are on our website here: https://www.lighthouseanimalshelter.org/application-instructions
Visitors are currently limited to approved applicants only. We will contact you when your application is fully processed to set up a time for you to meet our dogs.
We do not adopt on a first-come-first-serve basis, but rather by the best match between dog and family, although we will factor in the order of applications if there are equally good matches.
Please call all of your references (landlord if applicable, vet offices, and personal references) before filling out an application to let them know that we will be calling. We are an all-volunteer program and volunteers often make reference calls from their cell phone. It will be a number your personal reference does not recognize. We understand most people will screen their calls from unknown numbers so please tell them to keep an eye on their voicemail and give the volunteer a call back at their earliest convenience. We may end up playing phone tag with your personal references but will reach out to you if we need further assistance in reaching them.
Once we receive your application, we will check home ownership or landlord permission, personal references and vet references. We will reach out to you if we have questions during the process.
Our adoption fee for adult dogs is $450 which covers the costs of vetting (spay, vaccinations, heartworm testing, preventatives while in our care, deworming and microchip) and any boarding or transport fees incurred in each dog's rescue. Senior dogs are $250.
