Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Max!! Who celebrates his 1 year birthday this month (October).
Likes: Nyla bones, chew toys, stuffed animals, playing and then some more playing!
Dislikes: his ears messed with, but has been getting better at having them touched.
Personality: Energetic, hyper, playful, goofy, sweet and cuddly
Temperment: Nice, easily excited and gets playful, doesnt bite unless playing and gets worked up (doesn't bite to break skin, just nips sometimes/mouthy)
Energy Level: HIGH
Favorite Activities: Playing, barking at the neighbors, cuddling with Foster Mom and his infamous army crawl!
Favorite treat: Anything, not very picky, highly food motivated
Eating Schedule: 1 scoop, twice a day 6-8AM and then 4:30 to 5:30PM
Good with Cats, Dogs, and kids over 6? Will try to chase or play with cats if bored, loves other dogs, kids would be fine, can just get hyper and could knock down on accident, does occasionally nip/mouthy when excited- therefore older kids only. Not looking to place him with cats, to be fair to the cats.
House Trained: yes
Signals to go outside: stares at you, jumps on you or cries, also stares at door, if you ask him if he wants to go outside, he runs to door.
Crate trained?: yes, unless he doesnt want to go in, treats to coax him in work well.
Challenges: none that I can think of
Medical Issues: None
What would be the best home for him: an active home, one with a doggy friend as he can play non stop but loves to cuddle in the evenings, one that understands he can get hyper and needs to expend his energy. A fence would be ideal.
Not good with: a cat only house.
Our adoption process starts with our application. Once the application is approved, a member of Legacy will contact you to set up a home visit. The home visit usually last 1-1 1/2 hours and is to make sure our dog and any current dogs/cats are getting along, as well as both of us agreeing it's a fit. At this time the adoption fee is due, and begins the 2 week trial. We will check in during the 2 week trial. If it's not working, our dog is returned to the foster home and all except $100.00 {$75 if Senior} of the adoption fee is returned. At the end of the 2 week trial, you decide if you will finalize the adoption - if finalized, the Adoption Contract is signed and all medical records are turned over to you. If at any time you need to rehome the dog it contractually needs to be returned to Legacy Dog Rescue.
