Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bigfoot is looking for a foster home that can help him continue his healing process and skin care regimen for mange.( Mange is NOT contagious to other dogs or people). He has already been through 5 weeks of the treatment plan and has improved greatly.
Bigfoot is a 14-month-old Anatolian Mix who weighs in at a whopping 110 pounds! He is affectionate, sweet and gentle, with a kind heart. He will bond closely to his family. He adores being pet and getting attention.
This friendly guy was surrendered to Red Waggin’ Rescue from a family who couldn’t afford his care. He was underweight and had a severe case of mange, infected ears and sores on his body…
In the last month, his health and skin has greatly improved. His fur has started to come in and it’s beautiful. He is a unique looking dog who will turn heads!
Bigfoot is still a puppy and is very playful. He is large so his energy is limited and then he is quiet and rests. He loves playing in the yard with the dogs and runs around with glee. Poor guy never had doggie toys and is having a blast discovering how fun they can be.
Bigfoot does have separation issues. He doesn’t like to be left alone. His family is acclimating him to being crated because, if left free in the house, he can be destructive. Again over time he is improving in this area also. His new family should be prepared to be around him until he feels safe and trusts you won’t leave him.
His breed, Anatolian Shepherd mix think independently. He is a protector. He has been getting basic training in his foster home, such as sit, down, stay, come, leash walking and off. Like any young dog, he will benefit from continued training using positive reinforcement training without correction or punishment.
He is friendly with people (although untested with children and cats). He gets along with the male dog in his foster family. He has been introduced to 4 other dogs, 3 females, 1 male. All went well.
His forever home will need to have a 6-foot fence and a yard with room to stretch his legs.
Bigfoot is such a wonderful dog and wants to be loved and cared for. Do you want to be that person?
