My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Rudy. I'm a handsome six year old boy. I’m very sweet, affectionate and loyal and looking for a forever home that can give me lots of love and attention. I want nothing more than to be a loving member of your family. I work really hard at being a good boy and want to make my human proud. I would be great for someone who wants a devoted doggy companion. I like to be near my human at all times. Wherever you go, I won’t be far behind. I’m also a snuggle bug who likes to cuddle under the covers or sit on my foster mom’s lap. I have lots of comfy beds around the house but prefer to sit on the couch and sleep in bed with my foster mom and dad. I can be anxious in new situations; but, if you’re patient with me and make me feel safe, I will quickly adapt to your household. I love food, humans, walks and toys in that order. I go for a walk nearly every day and get really excited. I still need a little work on leash training but am learning. I’ve made a lot of progress with house training and only have occasional accidents but that’s usually if something changes with my daily routine. Once you become familiar with my habits and I learn about my new household I do really well sticking to a schedule. I’m also great at signaling when I need to go potty by pacing around or barking at the back door. I get very excited for meal time and snacks. I will sit for my food and treats. I will try to steal food from the other dogs and humans if I have the chance. I’m very resourceful and will open doors and jump onto the kitchen counter if there’s food left out so it’s important to place things out of my reach. I have tons of energy and like to run and play. Since I’m so curious about everything I sometimes try to escape so it’s important that I always have a martingale collar, harness, and leash when not in an enclosed space. You should also be careful when opening doors because I have a high prey drive and if I see a squirrel, bird, cat, etc. my instincts kick in and I will run. I get along with big and small dogs and am happy to share a bed with them but not my food. I would do best in an adult home with a fenced yard either as an only dog or one other non-alpha dog. I would really like a home where my people are not gone for long hours as people are my favorite.
