My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PEANUT IS ADOPTABLE NOW & SEARCHING FOR A SPECIAL FAMILY🥰

Thank you Kathy & Pawtastic Friends for helping Pini start water therapy. 🙌♥️

Peanut had all of the following diagnostics to try to pinpoint what the issue is with her front right leg: xrays, CT Scan, fluid tap, fungal titer and a limes test. All have been inconclusive so we now are trying swim therapy to build strength and muscle.

Hi, My name is Peanut, but I will also answer by the name Pini (In Võro, translates to Dog and pronounced p-EE-n-ee). I am a female Belgian Malinios weighing around 40 Lbs. It has been estimated that I was born sometime in October 2020 in Mexico, and was eventually rescued along with my Mom & 2 sisters by VPRP in March of 2021.

If you haven’t noticed already, there is one slight difference about me, that most dogs won’t have. It is unknown if I was born this way, or if there is/was something causing my abnormality. You see, my right front leg is noticeably smaller than my left front leg, and I don’t always use it for walking or running. But don’t worry or feel bad for me, I still get around just fine and it works well to hold my little foster brother dog down while I pick on him.

VPRP, along with my foster mommy, have been making sure I’ve had all kinds of tests, X-rays and scans, to try and figure out what has caused me to lose muscle in my shoulder, leg & paw. So far, the doctors and specialists are left with no exact answer, so I’m now trying swim therapy to see if I can gain some muscle back.

As of now, I’ve had 4 swim therapy sessions, and my foster mommy says I’m gaining more confidence to use my right leg more often.

Okay, enough about that! It is time to find out all the reasons you will fall in love with me. ❤️

Spayed: Yes
UTD on Vaccines: Yes
House trained: Yes
Kennel trained: Ummm, I’ll tolerate it when you leave the house. But I will also voice my opinion.
Obedience trained: Still in the works, but here is what I already know. Sit, I’m doing good with staying (not 100% though), I listen when I’m called or told to go back into the house, give (ball/toy), and I walk great on leash.
Here is what I’m still working on. Down, off (don’t jump, off furniture), come (with distractions around), fetch/catch, and “please get my arm out of your mouth” (Foster mommy will explain below, so don’t give up on me here).
Ride well in cars: Yes
Play well with other dogs: Yes, smaller dogs for sure. But it takes me a little longer to trust dogs my size or bigger.
Cats: Huh? What is that? Sounds fun to chase though.
Children: Older/bigger children that are strong enough I can’t knock them down. NO small children please.
Activity level: Off the chart 80% of the time!!! But I do enjoy some down time for naps.
Aggressiveness: What’s that?? I share my toys, share my beds, and eat my meals in the same room as my 5 small foster dog siblings without any issues. If another dog does get pushy, I will express my feelings, but I'm not the “alpha dog” of the house.

Now a few words from my foster mommy!

Pini is a very sweet girl that absolutely loves to please her person or people. Since she arrived at my home, I started doing “Mock Vet Exams” to make her more comfortable during her actual health exams. She still is not very happy about shots, nail trims, and having her temperature taken, so a muzzle is recommended for safety. Being a larger breed, I felt that was a very important part of her training to avoid having to be sedated every trip to the vet. In all honesty, I do recommend this for all breeds.

Pini loves to snuggle on the couch, on your lap, and even in bed if/when allowed. No blanket needed with this fluffy bundle of love. ❤️ And she plays unbelievably well with her 14 Lb foster brother (Boston Terrier) who has taught Pini the ropes around our home and maybe a few bad habits, like digging, trying to eat dried leaves that fall off the tree & barking during play time.

The only habits that really need continued work are not to jump on people, and when Pini gets upset or is feeling any pain, she will “mouth” your arm. She does NOT bite, and is in no way trying to hurt anyone. That is her natural instinctive way to say, “Stop”.

We’d like Peanut to find a family with breed experience who will continue her training and who loves her just the way she is!! She is special needs and may not ever regain full use of her leg but it really doesn’t slow her down much folks. Water therapy would be ideal to continue with our friend Kathy or at home in her very own pool.

I know for a fact that Pini is going to make someone or some family very happy!
She’s an absolute joy to have as a foster. 🥰
