She will try to sit on her foster mom’s head when she’s feeling happy and wraps her tail around her legs in a little side hug as she passes by. Kasha is reserved with strangers and touch must be on her terms. Pet me WITH YOUR EYES is her motto. She is brilliant and picks up new concepts quickly. She loves toys and will toss them to herself during “her turn”. If you’re looking for a spunky companion, have no other dogs, love the sound of a squeak toy and can cuddle with your teddy bear instead of Kasha, she may be your gal!
Kasha was isolated from people at her original home, so new people and new dogs make her nervous. It takes her a few weeks for her to accept touch from new people. Treats bring her near; she wags at the neighbors whom she knows have treats. Kasha would do best as the only dog in a home with past obedience training or herding breed experience so her quirks can be understood in context. A fenced yard and/or an owner who jogs would make her happiest. She loves the outdoors. Kasha thrives on auditory cues instead of touch. Personal space, treats, and kind words are the way to her heart.
Kasha has been with her current foster parent since June 2021. It took about two months before she fully relaxed and became a “real dog”. She still has rules not to touch her closed mouth or to pull her by her collar. With her resident dog buddy, she is bossy regarding space, toys, and food. He is passive-avoidant. She is kept separate from our second resident who will return sass. Kasha was around visiting children in a previous foster home, but we do not recommend placement in her permanent home with children since she will be adjusting to many changes.
Kasha is crate trained, potty trained, basic obedience trained, and up to date on vetting, including monthly preventatives. If you are interested in learning more about her, please fill out an application so that her foster parent can be sure to cover all of the talking points with you.
