My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Lily Grace
Nicknames: Lils. Lil-LAY. Silly Lily. Brown Dog.
Breed: Heinz-57
Age: ~ 3 years
Weight: 55 lbs.
Before OMD: If you couldn't tell by her name, she’s a southern gal. She made her way to us from our Alabama rescue partner in spring 2021 and at a total loss as to how this beautiful girl is still looking for her forever.
Descriptors: Exuberant. Joyful. Sweet. Silly. Athletic. Affectionate. Independent.
Best physical features: Her speckled legs. Her soft coat.
Energy Level: Cheetah in the Serengeti in her yard. Zen, cuddly cheetah in her house.
What she loves most: Toys (particularly the squeaky ones). Food (hold the carrots, please). Commandeering all the furniture. Giving kisses. Running. Critter hunting.
Favorite movie: Up. #squirrel
What we love most: Her signature lean. Her apologies -- squints eyes, thumps tail, gives a big smile. Denver the Guilty Dog has nothing on her. Her determination to do anything and everything to make her people happy and proud of her.
What makes us smile: When she hits the "on" switch for outside cheetah mode. The joy she gets from racing around, throwing her toys and catching them.
Copilot Rating: Not great. Car rides make her woozy. She’s ok on quick trips but vehicles aren’t really her jam.
What she knows: Down. Drop. Sit. Off (as in off furniture). Spot (point to a spot and she'll go there and sit).
Working on: Mouthing when excited. Four on the floor. Understanding the concept of personal space.
Kids: Yep, but her tail is strong as a whip and she’s still working on her manners so kiddos should be sturdy and dog-savvy.
Dogs: No thanks in her home! She prefers to be queen of her castle and she’ll need to be the only pup in her home. She does fine seeing other dogs out and about.
Cats: Hard no.
Other small animals: Also no. Her prey drive is alive and well.
House-trained: Absolutely. To perfection.
Crate-trained: Definitely. No protests ever.

Lily Grace is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped. She’s available for adoption for residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from Omdrescue.org.

Additional adoption info

One More Dog Rescue (OMD), formerly Ruff Start Happy Tails, requires all potential adopters to fill out an adoption application and agree to a home visit prior to any adoption. Once the application is approved, a meet and greet will be scheduled between the potential adopter (s) and the dog.

When a dog is adopted through One More Dog, an adoption contract must be signed, and we ask that a donation in the amount of $500 ($350 for seniors) be made at the time of adoption to help our rescue cover a portion of the costs we incur through pull fees, vetting, and training.

Applications can be found here: http://www.omdrescue.org/adoptapp.html
*We will adopt to approved applicants (who are able to meet & adopt in person) who live in CT and the surrounding areas: New England, New York, and New Jersey.
