My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

COURTESY POST

Location: Mechanicsburg, PA
Approx DOB: December 2017

Meet Max, a wonderful boy looking for a loving home. His caregivers are downsizing and they want to make sure he’s taken care of before they move.

Max currently lives in a large room in his caregiver’s barn with another cat. They often sleep snuggled up but he hasn’t been in a bed. There are chairs, tables, rugs and 3 windows in his room but he hasn’t really been in a house environment. However, they think he will adapt easily to a true home.

Max is playful - more so when someone is involved, but he does play by himself and with his roommate. He’s very sweet, although he’s not a lap cat. You can hold him and pet him. He’ll stay put and purr, but as soon as you let him go, he’ll jump off your lap. He doesn’t run away, just wants to be off the lap. He is very alert, reminds his caregiver if she runs behind schedule with his food, and likes to look out the window and watch the activities outside.

Max’s favorite toys vary - right now he likes a toilet paper roll to whack across the floor and an old sock which he can drag around. He’s very fond of things that make noise as they roll across the floor - a whiffle golf ball, another small ball, an acorn, etc.

Overall, Max gets along with other cats, although he tends to be a little bit of a bully. He lives with a shy feral female and will shoulder her away from food or toys, although he does not fight with her. He will occasionally bite her ear, but only gently. Max has not been around dogs or children.

He had gingivitis as a kitten and lost one tooth. He now does well if he gets 4-5 pieces of (prescription) Royal Canin Dental Diet a day in addition to his regular dry food and a tiny bit of canned food. He eats the dental diet bits readily - he thinks they’re treats. Check out his video and see how he chooses the treats he likes! Max is also very good about having his claws clipped.

Max is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. His caregiver will provide his vet records. If you’re interested in adopting him, please contact Patty at 46kendall@gmail.com.
