Meet Mika! This beautiful gal is super playful and loves toys. Her favourite games are fetch and tug-o-war. Mika is timid around people she doesn’t know but is very comfortable once she has had to chance to build up some trust. She takes longer to warm up to men but she is loving her foster dad now that she’s gotten to know him. Mika used to live with another dog in her previous life but hasn’t had much exposure to dogs since being in our care.

Mika has been working on her leash training. She does get nervous in higher traffic areas when there are lots of people around. Mika is working through some reactivity towards men that she sees on her walks. She is fully potty trained. She has not shown any signs of separation anxiety. Mika will happily go in her crate when asked and doesn’t take long to settle down.

The ideal home for Mika would be with a loving family committed to continuing her training, providing her with ample exercise and giving her lots of pets! She is looking for a family who will respect her boundaries. Mika is a few pounds over her ideal weight and her adopters will need to ensure to keep up her exercise routine to ensure she is able to reach a healthy weight. She would love to have a backyard but it’s not mandatory. Mika would do well in a home with another large dog. She has not had any exposure to cats but does exhibit prey drive. Mika would be happy to share her home with older, dog savvy children.
