Pippi and Squall are an adorable young pair of caiques (around 5-6 years old) looking for a forever home! These two cuties are quite the duo who go everywhere together. Pippi is dependent on Squall and does not like to be out of view of him, Squall is her confident guide. Squall is rambunctious and playful and loves meeting new people, Pippi warms up slower but enjoys the people who take the time to get to know her. They know step-up and enjoy any new environment to explore as long as they have each other there. They can be cuddly at times, adventurous and mischievous other times. They are hand tame and can get into pets and scritches in between their play time.
Caiques are extremely smart parrots who have very high mental stimulation needs. This is a young pair and they can live up to 30 years so it is a huge long term time commitment. They are extremely chatty and love to try to mimic all types of things so no apartments is probably best. They can even “meow”! They have several phrases they mumble such as “pretty bird” and “what cha doing?”
Pippi can be prone to self mutilation without an extremely stable environment. She cannot be separated from Squall and must have a lot of mental stimulation and they should have yearly standard vet checks. She has been in rehab with the rescue for a long time and started off mostly bald but is now healthy, stable, and happy and ready for her new beginning with her buddy Squall in a forever family. Squall is a happy going caique who is Pippi’s emotional support partner.
