My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at www.seniordoghaven.org under the Adoption Process tab.

Please note that because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about an hour of Wilmington, DE in order for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in person home visit.

If you’re looking for an easy going, handsome old man- Kody is your guy!
Kody is a 15 year old pup who spent most of his life living outdoors. He’s now enjoying the comforts of a cozy home, a nap in a soft bed, and a daily back massage. Kody is great with medium and large dogs. He’s not one to play with other pups but can happily coexist. However, that doesn’t mean this boy doesn’t like to play! At 15 years old, Kody’s puppy energy comes out whenever he sees a ball to play fetch or chew on his heavy duty toys.

Kody is happy being wherever his humans are. He quickly picked up on potty training from watching his foster siblings. He’ll go to the door or bark when he needs to go out. He can usually hold it all night if he goes out once later in the evening before bed, but does occasionally wake you up to go in the middle of the night if he needs to. Kody loves to eat! He’s got a super strong appetite. Now that he’s getting regular meals, he’s enjoying every last bite. He also takes his meds like a champ.

He’s currently being treated for two tick borne diseases with a course of Doxycycline, which he’ll be done in a few weeks. He also takes a daily joint supplement which has greatly improved his mobility. He’s got a healthy mouth of teeth and it was discovered on his neuter that he’s got laryngeal paralysis. He barks without issue and snores just a bit when he’s asleep.

He does experience typical old man hind leg weakness. It has gotten better since starting his joint supplement, but he can have some trouble getting up on surfaces without traction (like hardwood or tile). So his foster mom has solved that issue with some rug runners which allow him a good grasp. Kody loves the car and short walks. He’s overall a joy to have in the home and should fit right in to your family! Please fill out an application if you’d like to give him the best for the rest!
