My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Breed Guess: German Shepherd long hair
Age: 3 years old
Gender: Female
Children: No
Cats: Inquire as she is curious but could hurt one if not properly introduced/supervised
Dogs: Meet and Greet required
Housebroken: Unknown
Adoption fee: $350
Weight: 97 pounds
Other: Needs fence

Grace is going to need a dog savvy person that can handle her size and breed! She is still learning her manners such as walking on a leash, but is making progress and with more training, we hope she can make a great buddy! She will need someone that can handle her need for more socialization training and isn't afraid to tell her no with a stern voice. Grace loves the water and will spend her whole turn outside splashing in the pool. Due to her size and how much training she needs, we are requiring that her adopters have previous experience with her breed. She is also going to need a fence. When we put Grace in our cat room, she wasn't so sure what to do. We think that she has never seen them before. When a cat would go up to her she would look up to you for directions. We are not sure what she will do if someone isn't there to correct her so, she will need someone that has dealt with this before if they wish to house a cat with her. If you think you could be Grace's furever people/person, please fill out an application today.

Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet.

The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed.

All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped.

Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.

The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
