Meet Penny! This girl is a 1 year old Bombay / Domestic Shorthair who first came to us when she was a 3 month old kitten. Her mom had been a resident stray near our rescue, and we had brought her in and trapped her kittens to rehome them. Penny unfortunately hasn't had much interest due to her shy nature. Her mom, named Kiki, was actually an incredibly friendly and sweet cat, but Penny just didn't receive the socialization she needed. Since she's still young, we think that Penny can still come around, though she may always be a little independent. Currently, she's skittish but very curious about people. She seems to want to get to know people, but she's fearful on the inside and reluctant. Food helps us earn her trust quickly, which will be a great tool for her future adopters. We're looking for a family that is open to working with a cat like Penny - she never hisses, spits, or swats, she's just shy, especially with new people. We think she would do well with another cat at home and calm dogs. She is eligible to go home on a 3-5 week trial period to allow her to acclimate before making a final decision. Penny's waiting for a family to give her a chance to show her true colors!
If an animal is posted from us, they are AVAILABLE, however we sometimes do already have an adopter in place to meet them - however, please apply directly ASAP to ensure you get considered to meet them! We approve based on the best home, not first-come-first-serve.
