Sadie is a very cute and sweet dachshund, who came to Fuzzy Pawz Rescue when her human could no longer care for her. This little girl is about as easy as they come, with perfect manners and housetraining skills. She even will ask to go outside! Sadie is pretty chill, but she does have some separation anxiety. Due to this she would not make a good apartment dog. She may cry for a bit when you leave.
Sadie had some significant dental issues, which we’ve gotten all cleared up. She does still retain the habit of the excessive licking that comes along with having sore teeth, but we hope with time and a healthy mouth that this will dissipate.
She walks well on a leash, and boy oh boy does she love her walks! She loves them so much she wants to run the whole way. So, she does pull for a while until she tires out. She also cries if you stop moving….this gal wants to GO! She should be crated in the car, as she’s very active and moves around in the cab quite a bit when left uncrated. We aren’t sure how familiar she is with car rides so her anxiousness when in the car may decrease over time.
This girl is so cute with blankets and things she can cover herself with. She likes to completely cover herself up when she is napping. Another “quirk” is that she cannot manage more than one or two stairs, we have not seen any evidence of a bad back; but she is a Dachshund. If her new home is multi-storied, she’d need to be carried up and down.
Sadie is great with cats and dogs. She would really enjoy having a little friend to snuggle up to and share a bed with. If she feels scared or threatened by another dog she may lash out inappropriately, so we’d prefer her to be with dogs similar to her own size and one that is also easy going. She bonded immediately with everyone (pets included) in her foster home and will adjust well to a new home.
