Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, I’m Maurice! I’m 10 years young and so excited to find my forever family. I have so many good qualities and so much love to give. I’m quite a dapper gentleman, if I do say so myself. You and I will become cuddle buddies really soon because once I meet my forever person, I’ll never want to leave your side! I love all the people I’ve met so far! I’ve been out and about a couple times with my foster mom and everyone loves me right back. I’ve met all kinds of people! I like men, women and older children. I haven’t met any young children yet but I’m such a lover, I feel like I’ll like them just fine. I’m a man about town and I like all the dogs I’ve met in the neighborhood. I don’t know too much about cats. I have a 16 year old foster sister who’s a cat and I don’t pay much attention to her. I might want to play with her but she doesn’t have time for me. I’m a pretty chill dude but do not like to be left alone. I think I’d be very happy with somebody who’s home most of the time, maybe even a whole family! Anyone who works from home, who is retired or just some flat out homebodies will make great companions for me. (Although I do like going to happy hour now and then where all my friends can love on me) If you’re out of the house most of the day, I might not be your guy. I enjoy the outdoors but I’m happy inside too. I like hanging out in the yard for a while, especially if you are right next to me! I don’t think I need a fenced in yard though. I really like going on walks too. My foster mom says I can’t walk too far because I’m being treated for heartworm and she doesn’t want to get me all riled up. She doesn’t know I don’t get riled up too easily! I am very interested in the couch! It’s my favorite place to be. I’m not allowed to eat my bones on the couch but sometimes I sneak them up there anyway. I’m not quite sure how to use the stairs so I haven’t been in any bedrooms in my foster home. I heard about beds though, and I think I’d love sleeping in one next to my person/people! I sleep all night long too. My foster mom usually has to wake me but it’s not my fault she wants to get up with the sun. I have to admit I was a little nervous in the car at first. She had to pick me up and put me in. I’d get out slowly, but on my own. Now I know when I go on a car ride, I go fun places but always get to go home after. Now I’m very good in the car and I get in and out all by myself. I usually like to lay down and relax. Sometimes I even bring my bone with me if it’s going to be a longer ride. The fine print: I mentioned it earlier but I am heartworm positive and I've finished up my meds. I will only need a proheart injection in 5 months which doubles as a heartworm preventative so no monthly pills to give me. I am housebroken but can’t be left for a long time. If you’re going to be gone for more than a few hours, you might want to put a belly band on me just in case! I do not like being in a crate. I’ll break out if it. My foster mom and her pals at the rescue keep trying different kinds so I can have a nice comfy place where I feel safe and happy! We’ll figure it out because who doesn’t like to have their own space? I’m not going to lie…I can see, just not very well. My friends think I can see movement and shadows but when there a lot of people around, I have to sniff out my favorites. I told you before I like to go for walks so I’m good on a leash and don’t want to pull you. I just want to follow wherever you want to go. Be careful cause I might step on the back of your flip flops! I do know how to sit and give paws but i get so excited for treats I sometimes forget the paw thing! I’m so cute though, I get the treats anyway. I love chewing on bones, peanut butter, my human family and friends, my couch and lots of hugs and snuggles. Bonus, I don’t drool! Do you want to meet me yet?? Cause I want to meet you! Approved application, home visit, and adoption donation of $150 required. I am utd, chipped, neutered and come with leash and collar.
