Charlie Bear is a very sweet 4-year-old male, Red-Tri Australian Shepherd weighing around 60 lbs. He loves to cuddle and snuggle with his human and will never turn down a big ole belly rub. He knows how to sit, lay, down, wait, stay, play ball, house, leash, car ride, walk…he is smart and works to please - anything for a treat. He is potty trained and crate trained. Mr. Charlie Bear is a typical Velcro aussie and actually has an off switch.
Charlie Bear is truly a big brown bear! Charlie Bear likes to play soccer - goalie is his favorite position! He loves water and the garden hose. Charlie has a voice and has a bit to say to get your attention for playtime or potty time.
Charlie Bear goes in a crate during errands and at bedtime, although during the day he would prefer to stay with you. Leash walking is still a work in progress. Dogs and people on the street still cause him some reaction, yet Charlie is quickly learning clicker training and re-directs very nicely. A 4 ft fenced in yard is best as Charlie Bear grew up on a farm and would like to run anywhere, if given a choice. Mr. Charlie Bear is a total love bug who will be a great companion for anyone!
Charlie Bear does best being the only pup in the home, although he can co-mingle and play well with other dogs. Charlie will chase cats, so no cats, please. Charlie Bear also loves car rides and will ride shotgun too!
Charlie Bear is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, microchipped and on monthly preventatives for heartworms, fleas and ticks. Monthly preventatives are required for adoption.
Charlie is fostered in the Chicago area.
