My story

Hello, my name is Pelio (HWTH#21140A). I am a Chihuahua mix, born 6/2/18 and I weigh about 20 lbs. I came to Halfway to Home by way of the California City Shelter after my owner passed away. My life has been turned upside down but I am looking forward to the future and a new forever home. First thing you might notice about me is I am overweight. Some people think chunky Chihuahuas are cute but in reality the extra weight is very hard on our joints and down the road could affect our health a lot like it can with people. Properly-portioned amounts of kibble and regular walks will help me lose weight. I am a friendly little guy and I like attention. I would likely be your constant companion and want to sit in your lap and snuggle next to you in bed at night. My size makes me a good choice for an apartment or condo dweller as long as I have a secure outdoor area where I can go potty and enjoy the sunshine. I would love to go on walks with you and maybe even car rides. The possibilities are endless! I am likely house-trained, but please be patient with me while I learn my new surroundings. I don't know how I get along with other dogs or children, so let's find out together when you meet me, ok?
