My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lady, a delightful adult dog who has a heart full of love and a spirit brimming with playfulness. She`s a 76-pound ball of fun, always ready for a game or an adventure. She likes agility, running, tugging, toys, water, chase, and wrestling. She loves walks and gets excited at the sight of a leash and leads on walks but listens. She`s also smart, obedient, and house trained. She knows the sit, stay, no, off, and shake commands. She`s incredibly affectionate, with a knack for cuddling that can turn any bad day around.

Lady is comfortable on her own, but she also appreciates a good company and prefers her humans close by especially when she gets started at a new place with a new family. She starts shy and timid with everyone, and slowly opens up after she begins to trust the family members. Then, she loves to stay close to them to get belly rubs and in return, gives lots of kisses. She is crate trained but prefers more space because of her size, like a room with baby gate. She`s strong so the right person should handle her on walks using a sturdy harness and stay alert for pulling when she sees critters. She likes something to gnaw on as stress reliever so strong chew toys are a must with her.

Lady has a picky side when it comes to other animals so she MUST be the only animal in the house. She is generally wary of new items or excitement and prefers a steady, routine pace in the house. She bonds with women more easily than with men and is very loyal and affectionate. She will make an ideal dog for single women or a single mom with children, as she has a natural affinity for women and is gentle with young kids. Her size makes her a good guard dog.

Adopt lovable Lady, and let her bring a burst of joy, companionship, and unconditional love into your life. For additional information, please reach out to her foster, Ram, at CAPdogfoster@gmail.com or (281) 202-9076. (tw, rr 3/9/2025)

More about this shelter

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
