My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at www.seniordoghaven.org under the Adoption Process tab.

Please note that because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about an hour of Wilmington, DE in order for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in person home visit.

Betty Lou is a silver gray shih tzu mix about 15 years old
She is in very good health and needs no medication. She is deaf and has early cataracts but her vision is good,
She lived with several other dogs most of her life. When her owner died, her luck changed. She went to live with other family members for a while before she came to us.
When she first arrived to her foster home she was in rough shape. Her coat was matted and she had a skin infection.
Those days are behind her now and she is looking for a new family to love her.

She prefers to be inside and uses pee pads. We aren’t sure she ever really spent much time outside. She does love to explore the yard but is just as happy staying in her bed.
She is not a barker, but she is an early riser and will sing a sweet tune for her breakfast.
She is up to date on her vaccines and had a recent dental (she does have the typical shih tzu underbite).
She tends to be a bit of a loner and isn’t one to seek out a lot of attention. If you’re looking for a low key companion who just wants some food and a warm bed Betty Lou is your girl!
