Here's what the humans have to say about me:
CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME PAY FOR MY HEARTWORM TREATMENT? THANK YOU UYR FOR NOT LETTING ME DIE IN THE SHELTER!!
MY VETTING BILLS ARE NOW $797.64. WILL YOU PLEASE HELP ME GET WELL??
UPDATED BIO 01/24/2010: Ty here!!! I'm 6 years old and weigh 16.5 lbs. Sorry you haven't heard from me for awhile. FM has been really busy, but said I needed to let everyone know how well I'm doing. The last heartworm treatment that everyone was so scared about was a piece of cake. I'm tuff. I sailed right through that. In fact I'm doing so well, I was doing my happy happy joy joy dance for FM when she came home the other nite and got so excited I ended up in the middle of the dining room table. WHOOPS, sure didn't mean to do that! I wanted to thank everyone for their prayers and support through what was a real scary time, but once again I came out smelling like a rose. FM said I'm like a cat and have 9 lives. Wonder which one I'm on?
UPDATED BIO 12/20/2009: I'm Ty! I'm 6 years old and weigh 16.5 lbs. FM let me use her computer so that I could send my adoring fans an update! Well, I heard the kids next door playing this morning and FM said she could tell from the look in my face I wanted to go out and play with them. I know I can't be in my furever home by Christmas, but maybe by Valentine's day? PLEASE FANS, I KNOW YOU'RE READING ABOUT ME, CAN YOU PUT IN AN ADOPTION REQUEST.
FM said I'm getting better every day and that I am SO SMART. Now, when my water and food bowls are empty, I bring them onto the couch and stare at her. It took me about 2-3 x's before she caught onto what I was doing (so who's the smart one here??). I have also started putting my toys up at night when FM says it's time for bed. I will put everything back in a pile on the corner of the couch, and then I go thru and decide which one I want to take to bed with me. (cute huh?) FM and FD say I have a huge zest for life, so keep thinking about me and take action TODAY.........
UPDATED BIO 12/9/2009: Ty here! If you forgot, I am 6 years old and 16.5 lbs of pure lovin! ....So here I still am, had my second round of heartworm treatment, 2 shots in 2 days back to bad. Day 1 didn't go so well. I moved and bent the needle in my hip. That didn't feel so good. I felt that one all day. Day 2 went a little better, but I am most definitely hurting. Didn't feel like getting out of Foster Dad's lap all day. Even when the kids were playing, I watched but didn't make any moves to get up. So we have one more treatment early January. The vet said that is the most dangerous one. I'm going to have to stay with him for a couple of hours to make sure all is okay. But hopefully early February I'll be ready to go to my FUREVER home.
As I said before and I'll say it again, "Can I have a family with kids?" Please think about me, even a smaller dog or 2 for me to play with. FM said I don't like bigger dogs then me, so that wouldn't work out real well. We had a bunch of people here both big and small at Thanksgiving and I was a swell guy. I behaved real good and even the little kids liked me (except when I tried to steal their board game pieces). I just wanted to join in.
Please help contribute to my treatment and think REAL HARD about putting in an application for me. YOU WON'T REGRET IT.
UPDATED BIO 11/21/2009: Ty (or Tyler as he's referred to in his foster home!) is a fun-loving 6 year old 16.5 lb Yorkie-poo who was picked up as a stray. Sadly, Ty's previous owners had not thought that heartworm prevention was necessary. Ty is now in the process of getting heartworm treatment. It is a long and difficult road, as Ty (who loves to run and play) is forced to take it easy, relax, and spend lots of time in his crate for his own well-being. Until he is cured completely, a worm could break off from his heart and lodge in his lungs - killing him. It is an awful thing to have to go through, but lucky for Ty, he has UYR, the support of those reading about him, and the love of his foster parents and Fur-siblings to get him through it!
Ty has had the first of three rounds of treatment. He is doing quite well, and the vet has approved slow, easy walks. Ty gets so excited he will pull at first, but then he does relax and act like the perfect gentleman he is. He has a hard time holding his energy back, but he will calm down.
When Ty first got to his foster home, he was losing hair in big clumps, but that has now stopped. With some decent nutrition, you don't even see his ribs anymore. Ty is such a big lover. He and FM's little Cosmo (all of 5 lbs) will spend hours sitting quietly on the couch pawing at each other. He is such a good boy and really deserves a loving FURever home.
UPDATED BIO 11/6/2009: Ty here! I am a 6 year old 16 lb Yorkiepoo (though I appear to show my "poo" side a little more! lol) I am a bundle of joy! If you read about Yorkiepoo's online, you'll see that I fit the bill. FM says that her references say that Yorkie-poo's are "energetic, happy, brave and intelligent. They are alert, loving, cheerful and clever. They are great watchdogs and want to be involved in all the family activities." AND I AM ALL OF THAT and MORE!!!
I was found at a South Florida shelter where nobody came for me. UYR busted me outta there and brought me to my FM in Largo, FL. I am neutered, and my teeth are clean. I am healthy except for one eensy-weensy thing. I'm heartworm positive. It's not my fault. Nobody ever gave me heartworm medicine so that I could stay healthy. I start treatment tomorrow and will need to be crated for several weeks. It's going to be so awful not to be able to run and jump and play like I love to do. FM says it's also very expensive to treat; so, if you could spare a few dollars, my Paypal link is below.
Please submit an application now, so I can have my furever home waiting for me once I am done with treatment. You'll be so happy you did!
UPDATED BIO 11/01/09: MEET TY! He is a handsome 6 y/o 16# yorkie-poo who is being fostered in Largo, FL. Ty was picked up as a stray, and no one came to claim him at the shelter........maybe it was because Ty is HW+. It's so sad that his previous owners didn't care enough for him to give him a little pill every month to prevent heartworms........it's not very expensive, but the treatment for heartworms is! Not only is the HW treatment expensive, but it is medically very difficult on the patient - some dogs don't survive heartworm treatment. :( Ty will begin HW treatment on November 7th - the treatment will continue for approximately 8 weeks - then Ty will be tested for heartworms 6 weeks after the treatment ends to ensure its success. During treatment, Ty must be kept crated 24/7 unless someone is home to watch him and make sure he doesn't engage in strenuous play, running or any other restricted activity. This will be especially hard for Ty who is very active and loves to play. FM says that it breaks her heart to think about what he has has to go through with the HW treatment. Ty's Foster Mom says that he is kind-hearted, gentle and quiet (at least, so far in his new foster home! hee-hee). He is a little hyper since he has been cooped up in the cage for the last 3 weeks.
FM said it breaks her heart to think about what he has to go thru with the heartworm treatment. He's such a happy boy and appears to get along well with everybody and everypuppy - what a sweet fella! If you have some spare change to send to UYR for TY's HW treatment, it would certainly be appreciated! Ty will not be ready for adoption until he has tested negative for heartworms, which should be in 3-4 months. If you are interested in adopting Ty, please go ahead and submit your application and it will be processed immediately, with the understanding that he will remain in UYR foster care until his HW treatment is completed. FM thinks that the perfect home for Ty would be a family with high-energy, just like him. We don't know how he is with children yet, but since he loves everyone he meets, he will probably do very well in a home with children, especially children that will play with him - he loves to play - and jump - oh, and he loves to eat! Ty so deserves more than he has been dealt in his short life - he deserves a loving, forever home where he can enjoy the rest of his life being adored by his family.
Initial Bio 10/21/09: MEET TY! He is a handsome 6 y/o 15# yorkie-poo who ended up in a shelter, and no one came to claim him; his time was up in the shelter which meant he was destined to be euthanized. UYR to the Rescue! Ty doesn't look like most yorkie-poo's but his registration paperwork states that he is a yorkie-poo - but where is the yorkie part? Ty is a very playful, happy and active little dog. Sadly, his previous owners neglected to give Ty Heartworm Preventative and he is HW+. This means that he will have to endure heartworm treatment which is very difficult, but hopefully Ty's exuberant personality and strong spirit will see him through. Ty's HW treatment is expensive, so if you can spare a small donation to help out with the costs, it would be appreciated. Ty so deserves more than he has been dealt in his short life - he deserves a loving, forever home where he can enjoy the rest of his life being adored by his family.
