My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Intake Date: 31 May 2021 ----- Age at Intake: 1 yrs ----- Breed: Husky Pomeranian Mix ----- Size: 40 lbs ----- Status: owner surrender ----- Compatible with: dogs, older children ----- Suitable for: home with fenced yard. No Exceptions. ----- Medical/Behavioral Needs: Anxiety. ----- Additional Notes: Goose is a tricky case. He comes to rescue with a lengthy list from the different owners whom have had him to inlcude: - Separation anxiety - Excessive chewing - Food and/or toy aggressive - Escape artist - Jumps/climbs fences - Digs holes - May not like male dogs - Nipped at child over food Whew! What we know so far. His family asked to surrender but we had a family emergency pop up. He was then rehomed a few times in a month period but it was unsuccessful each time. When we took him in, he came from a home with an older child (10+) and they had no behavior issues with him. What we noticed: Goose is under-socialized and lacks confidence. He seeks affection but snaps when approached so he gives very mixed signals. We are allowing him to decompress and he plays with one other female dog at rescue (have not done big group play with him yet). He seems to desire to play with people too but is unsure of himself. He kennels on command. He thrives with a routine and stability. We have a 6 foot fence and he has obeyed it. He will benefit from an assertive pet owner who will not allow his banana behavior and will continue to work with him on his socializing and training. He is a smart guy, just seems to have missed some key points in his upbringing. We recommend a home without young children or small dogs and due to lack of exposure to cats, a no cat household as well. He might be a tough placement but we know there is a home for him out there somewhere! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If interested in meeting and potentially adopting, please read the adoption requirements and complete the adoption application located at forbellessake.org. Once processed and approved a meet and greet can be scheduled and if a match an adoption can be finalized at that time. FBS standard adoption fee is $175. All residents are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and treated for any known medical needs. Breeds are best guess. Housetraining is not guaranteed but crate training is worked on with all residents. A secure physically fenced yard is required.
