My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Wally
💙
Intake Date: 10 May 2021 ----- Age at Intake: 1.5 yrs ----- Breed: Labrador, Golden Retriever, Poodle Mix ----- Size: 60 lbs ----- Status: owner surrender ----- Compatible with: Larger dogs, older children only (teens plus). No Cats or Small Dogs ----- Suitable for: home with 5-6 foot fenced yard ----- Medical/Behavioral Needs: Can jump high! Requires taller fence or boundary training. Due to past history, no small dogs or young children. Informed he has a bite history. ----- Additional Notes: Wally came in as a rescue transfer. His family surrendered him to the pound for behavior issues and he was sent to an out of area rescue. It doesn't seem like intros to the foster household were done quite properly (no decompression, etc) and after a couple of days, he started to exhibit some severe resource guarding behaviors towards the other animals and people. We have had him in rescue now for a couple of weeks and zero issues. We play with his toys with him, and he loves to fetch. He kennels on command, rides in the car well. We have done basic intros to other large dogs now that his decompression is over and those went well. He likely has some aggression when it comes to toys, etc but we don't give them the opportunity to exhibit those. We recommend a home for Wally with an assertive guardian. One who corrects his behavior, trains, disciplines, and will keep him on the right track. NO YOUNG CHILDREN. NO CATS. NO SMALL DOGS. Again, although we have not seen issues here, we also need to consider past history and find the environment he will thrive in with his humans. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If interested in meeting and potentially adopting, please read the adoption requirements and complete the adoption application located at forbellessake.org. Once processed and approved a meet and greet can be scheduled and if a match an adoption can be finalized at that time. FBS standard adoption fee is $175. All residents are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and treated for any known medical needs. Breeds are best guess. Housetraining is not guaranteed but crate training is worked on with all residents. A secure physically fenced yard is required.
