My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kiwi is a FLUFF BALL. He is sweet and out-going. The snuggler of the litter. He is a friendly, intelligent bunny who is already litter box trained!

Kiwi will require extra grooming, most likely from a professional groomer. He has long fur and will need haircuts so his fur doesn't get tangled. The photos show images with his long fur and a few post his very first haircut at 9 weeks old.

Why is grooming important? If not addressed, the fur forms mats. When the mats get close to the skin, they restrict movement, rip the skin and hurt. Neglected rabbits (we’ve seen a few in rescue!) sometimes are so matted that they cannot hop or defecate. Their fur is felted and impenetrable. Regular haircuts are necessary to avoid this ugly drama.

We are not 100% certain of his/her sex but believe that he is a boy. The babies, not much over 1.5 lbs right now but will probably be around 4-5 lbs when fully grown.

The babies are too young to be fixed. Males are ready at 3-4 months and females at 5 1/2 - 6 months. Their MANDATORY spay/neuter is included in the adoption fee. We work with vets in the East Bay Area so adopters must live in the area so we can arrange for the surgery as soon as they are ready.

Since their mom was vaccinated for the RHDV2 virus days before she gave birth, our vet has advised that we wait till they are 3 months old before we vaccinate the babies. We will organize a vaccine clinic in Danville for the litter when they are 13-14 weeks old.

Kiwi is the perfect, confident and affectionate bunny who will require extra grooming.. If you are ready to share your heart and home with this lovely baby, please fill out our application, https://eastbayrabbit.org/adoption-form/
