My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Champ, also known as Champion or at times, Chomp! Champ is a roughly 10 year old Poodle mix who weighs right around 15 pounds. And he does have a lengthy bite history, so if you're lucky enough you can be added to it! This poor little guy has the best attitude even though he's been through quite the big changes over the last few weeks. His owner passed away, and he's been passed around a bit due to his attitude while grieving his loss. He's found a wonderful foster and his true personality is really shining through, and what a personality it is!!!

Champ is always smiling! he's got a bit of a snaggle tooth, and he knows it just adds to his Champion Charm. Champ loves a good butt scratch and is a big fan of just lounging in the sun and enjoying a nice day. He loves long walks with his people, and really gets along well with most other dogs. He loves being with his people, even if it's just being able to see them from his dog bed.

Champ is fully house trained and sleeps very well in a crate at his foster home. He is being fostered with other dogs and would be great in a home with a buddy. He would not be good with kids and I think he'd just ignore cats, but we don't know for sure. Champ knows all kinds of commands such as sit and shake hands, and is incredibly smart. He will listen when told to get down from the couch and comes inside when called while out in a fenced in yard. He is also a foodie and loves to beg for human food. He will also hop, nearly 5 feet off the ground, just to get your breakfast.

Now I bet you're wondering; why do we call him Chomp? Well, because he has a bit of a bite history. Nothing major, but when he's uncomfortable and feels unsafe he is not shy about letting you know! It's best to not approach him while he's in his bed, especially if you don't know him.

The best thing about Champ is that when he wants attention, he will come to you! Otherwise he is completely happy just hanging out in his bed. If he comes your way then you're in for endless demands for pets and butt scratches until you ask him to go away, which he will do as long as you promise more scratches later.

NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
