My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chester is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH), male, DOB: 3/15/16.
Affectionate, attentive, intelligent . . . Chester is a warm, thoughtful boy who enjoys loving attention from those he knows, especially neck rubs and any kind of petting. Interested and inquisitive without being too playful, calm, well-mannered, happy to be present, genuinely sincere, and truth be told, maybe a little bit quirky and definitely having a comfort zone he likes to operate in.
Chester is an equal blend of wanting to serve his inquisitive nature by exploring on his own or just hanging-out observing the activities of his people and being unable to help himself from engaging in playtime with intermittent pursuits of securing some hands-on attention and loving nuzzles. A bit of a chatterbox too, Chester has much to say and conversation is a must with him - he appreciates being talked to, and he’ll show his appreciation by talking right back.
Charming, confident, and even outgoing within the safety of his comfort-zone, Chester is impish and clever, sometimes brash, in his interactions with his environment and fellow felines; he settles down after exploration time is over, readily revealing his sweet-nature and showing himself to be an extremely affectionate cat, showing his love and appreciation to all who have earned his trust.
Chester came to Monroe SPCA as an emergency intake. He was found living as an outdoor cat with an extremely deep wound on his right rear foot: ligaments were exposed and the wound itself went almost fully around to the other side. Vet x-rays showed that there appeared to be no broken bones, but his leg and foot were very inflamed and infected. His treatment regimen involved multiple rounds of antibiotics and daily cleaning & wrapping of his injured foot. He was treated for Giardia, Coccidia, fleas, and Tape and Roundworm as well while with us.
The outer wounds on Chester's foot have fully healed, however the inner damage to the delicate ligaments is permanent - he will likely always have two small "dents" in his foot as well (where the flesh healed over). That being said, he can move around fantastically and is now a happy, confident feline. He's looking for a forever family to welcome and embrace him as a life-long, beloved companion and family member, while at the same time, helping him stay happy and healthy.
Chester is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active lifestyle and no active young children under the age of twelve (12). He is comfortable with other compatible cats and kittens, and he’s comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs, but he’ll need some adjustment time to warm-up and settle into his new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption.
Chester currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet him by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above.
All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption.
Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI.
