My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This beautiful girl is Marilyn. We are guessing she is basset hound and maybe vizsla. She has beautiful amber eyes. We are guessing her to be about a year old and she weighs in at 50 pounds.
Marilyn definitely has more of a basset hound attitude. She loves curling up on the couch and sleeping by her people. She is not much of a player. She does really enjoy her walks, but is bothered by heat so during the summer they have to be early in the morning or later in the evening.
Marilyn is one of the cuddliest dogs I know. She wants to be near you all the time. She will curl up next to you or even lay her head in your lap. Watch out if you start petting her, she won’t let you stop. She sleeps in our bedroom at night. She started out on the floor in a dog bed. She then decided the ottoman at the end of our bed was a comfy place. She has now started sneaking into the bed after we are asleep. If you are not a fan of dogs in bed with you, this is probably not the girl for you.
Marilyn is currently living with 2 smaller dogs. She gets along with them, but seems to have some jealousy issues. The first couple of days she growled a couple times when they came too close while she is getting love, that seems to have gotten better. If another dog is getting love she will come and butt her way in. She is not interested in playing with the other dogs at all. She would do well as an only dog, but could live with another laid back buddy. We do not know how she would be with cats.
Marilyn does well in the car once she gets in, but she has to be lifted in and out. She is not sure about getting into the car.
You may notice some blue on Marilyn’s muzzle. The shelter she came from was treating for ringworm (which is not a worm, but a fungal infection). Our vet did check her out and put her on an anti fungus drop.
Marilyn is house trained, no accidents since coming to live with us. She is gated in a small area when we are gone and goes in for a treat. I think she would do fine loose, but am keeping her separate from the other dogs in the house when not supervised.
Marilyn would love a home with lots of love to give her. She is such a sweet girl. If you would like to meet this dog please call Annie at 815-685-0746. The adoption fee is $225.
