My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Melba
Rottweiler
Female
5 years old
75 lbs.

Hi friends! My name is Melba, and I’m excited to tell you about myself so that you’ll fall in love with me and we can be a forever family together!

First, let me tell you the best things about me: I love giving kisses and cuddles and enjoy being near my humans, whether it’s relaxing nearby, sleeping and snuggling in bed, or just in my view as I snuggle in my favorite dog bed. I love curling up on the couch for a good long nap and have a really easy going energy overall.

I also LOVE having a yard to enjoy! I like hanging out and relaxing in my yard space and need a secure 6ft fence to give me that safe yard space I need. I also have done great meeting new dogs that come over to visit! I seem happy to engage and while I haven’t lived with a dog so I can’t share how I do in sharing my space all the time, I do just fine with other dogs coming over to visit and spend time with me. I don’t think I’m the right match for cat friends due to inexperience overall.

While I am so laid back in my home, I get pretty worked up when I’m on leash (towards dogs and just in general.) Therefore, I’d benefit from a forever human who is strong enough to manage a big dog who has that reactive tendency on leash and who is willing to spend some time with leash training with me (positive reinforcement only please!) An ideal home for me would be a home with a yard (no apartments please!) where my human is comfortable doing 1-2 walks a day and then just hanging out at home or in my yard where I am most comfortable.

I’m also so so smart! I know lots of commands including come, sit, stay, lay down, and I even shake! I’m super gentle when eating treats from my human’s hand, and I always potty outside (even if it takes me a while to find the perfect spot!). I do just fine being home alone when my family is away but then I am always so so happy when you come home as I just adore my humans so much. I truly am just the BEST pup and I can’t wait to find that easy going home where I can just get all the love.

So, what do you think? Aren’t I just the friend you’ve been waiting for? I sure hope so! Email my friends at PawsCo at adopt@pawscoadoptions.org or fill out an adoption application to learn more about me!
