Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Rosie!
Breed: Your guess is as good as ours (Berger Picard Shepherd? Giant Schnauzer mix?)
Nickname: Big Girl
Age: 8 yrs
Weight: 95 lbs
Foster home: Madison, WI
Activity level: Low-Medium
Sleep style: Couch or dog bed
Mealtime: Prefers to dine al fresco (usually on the deck) - she eats a blend of raw patties (Stella & Chewy) & kibble (Acana)-12 hours apart, with insulin given within 20 minutes after eating.
Snore-o-meter: 0
Bark-o-meter: 0
Fashion: Thick fabric collars with vibrant colors
Favorite season: Summer
Commands: Come, Wait, Stay, Off, Drop It, Leave It, Fetch, Hop Up (she does need a boost getting into the back of an SUV)
Loves: Kisses on the head, car rides, sniffari in the yard, socializing with doggy friends, babysitting toddlers, hiking, boating, swimming, sunbathing, gnawing bones, peanut butter Kongs, backyard bonfires & being your best friend
Bucket List: Going to work with you every day (perhaps on a golf course).
*Medical Note:
Rosie received a diabetes diagnosis in March. She will require a family committed to her overall health, continued insulin injections and follow-up glucose curve appointments so that her levels are properly regulated and she can live her best life.
Rosie’s meals are 12 hours apart and she receives her injections within 20 minutes of finishing her food. This schedule is required for her health. Due to her size, Rosie’s insulin runs about $150-$180/month. Potential adopters need to factor this in to their monthly budget before applying.

Albert's Dog Lounge is a transporting dog rescue, meaning that we rescue many of our dogs from high kill shelters in areas of dog overpopulation. We are a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. The vast majority of our dogs come from the Houston, TX area where we have an entire team of volunteers, coordinators, and fosters. We do also work with local shelters, rescues, and owners. If you apply for a dog that is currently in our local Houston program, we will work to get your dog transported to WI as quickly as possible. We ask that you have patience during this time of uncertainty and unprecedented dog adoptions nationwide.
Learn more about Albert's Dog Lounge, our mission, and adoption policies by visiting Albertsdoglounge.org.
Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $275.
