My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jade is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH), female, DOB: 10/1/16.
Simply adorable, this petit cutie is all about love and affection - both giving and receiving. Extremely social and super friendly, Jade is quick to initiate and welcome new friendships. However, because of her limited sight, a slow approach and gentle spoken words are the best way to spark up that new friendship, as sudden movements could catch her by surprise. An upbeat, cheerful cat by nature, she won’t hesitate to jump into play sessions with her favorite toys, such as a toy mouse or catnip pillow.
Truly a people-cat, Jade is very loving and affectionate, and as much as she loves her toys and playtime, she won't hesitate to leave them behind for any opportunity to snuggle, though preferably with all four feet on the ground or sitting next to her favorite people. In fact she won't hesitate to rev up her purr motor when she's happy, which is pretty much a constant when her people are nearby.
Jade came to Monroe SPCA as a rescue from Monroe County Animal Control, along with her colony mates: Paddy, Jett, Skye, and more. Before they were live-trapped, the colony was not being cared for and in the middle of winter they had no way to keep warm - some were found frozen to death on the property. Jade, along with all the other cats rescued were treated for URIs, malnutrition, ear mites, Giardia, Coccidia, fleas, and Tape and Roundworm while with us. They also all received and are still receiving daily socialization with our volunteers. Jade specifically had an enlarged right eye that appeared to be slowly increasing in size. Veterinary diagnostics led us to the best option for her future health: surgery to remove the eye and a good amount of recovery after.
Now a happy, healthy feline, Jade is looking for her forever home with a family who can give her the time and attention a special girl like her needs. Because of her limited sight, she is a special needs feline, however she goes through her daily activities with relative ease.
Jade is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active to moderately active lifestyle and no active young children under the age of six (6). She is comfortable with other compatible cats and kittens, and she’ll be comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs after being given some adjustment time to warm-up and settle into her new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption.
Jade currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet her by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above.
All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption.
Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI.
