Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Skipper! What a guy! This little guy came to us with a very broken leg, but that didn't hold him back pain and all. His best bet was an amputation which was done very successfully and he's even happier than before, if that is even possible.
We believe Skipper is a Rat Terrier mixed with Italian Greyhound and probably some Chihuahua thrown in for good measure. He's only about one year old and about nine pounds of fun and love.
Skipper would rather be in a lap, in an arm or in a bed with someone than on the ground with the other critters in the house. He's still getting used to not thinking another dog in the house is going to hurt his broken leg, so gets a little panicky when others are running around, then realizes it's not there any more. But as for healing and recovery? He's 110% now.
He loves nearly everyone and everything but any children in the home should be thirteen or older so they can understand how to be gentle with him.
If you believe sweet Skipper is the dog for you then read on to apply or go directly to throwmeabonedogrescue.org/adoption-process
All potential adopters are expected to complete an application and provide pictures of their yard, patio, and/or balcony making sure we can see the fence line and/or railing. The application can be completed and submitted from our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org - the link is found of the Adoption Process page. Applications will be reviewed for approval before setting an appointment to come meet and possibly adopt the dog of interest. In addition, those who live in a rental property are expected to provide proof that they are allowed to have a dog where they live.
Each of our rescued dogs has been de-wormed if necessary, de-flea'd (with topical treatment if old enough, and by medicated bath if too young), spayed/neutered, microchipped, is up to date on shots, and has been fully examined by a veterinarian. In addition, each adopted dog comes with a starter baggie of the food it has been eating, a few treats for training purposes, a rawhide chew, a lead and collar, and a folder containing pertinent records.
