Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bruiser! We gave this tiny little guy a very strong name in hopes it would bring out his inner strength! It's working, but very slowly. You see, Bruiser was from a hoarder's home (with at least 35 other dogs that we know of ) and was never socialize or held by humans that we can tell. When we first got him he would literally go stiff-as-a-board when picked up. Not vicious or fear-aggressive, he just gave up because he had no idea what to do. He has made strides but still has a bit to go.
In his foster home he has come to love the woman of the house. He loves to snuggle with her and sleep in bed with her. His perfect home would be that of a quiet older woman who won't ask much of him but will provide love and encouragement, plus a warm lap and a very small part of the bed to share. He has not taken to the man of the house at all so we can only presume there were no men in his previous life.
Bruiser is just about five pounds - right on the border of not being teacup but that also means on the border of being teacup. He is in a foster home with cats and dogs and does well with them all. Though dogs in the home wouldn't be an issue for him he may do better bonding with humans in a home without other dogs as did the other dogs we took in from the same hoarding situation. Any children in the home would need to be older teens and up.
If you are looking for a tiny little thing that needs you more than you can ever know, read on or go to throwmeabonedogrescue.org/adoption-process
All potential adopters are expected to complete an application and provide pictures of their yard, patio, and/or balcony making sure we can see the fence line and/or railing. The application can be completed and submitted from our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org - the link is found of the Adoption Process page. Applications will be reviewed for approval before setting an appointment to come meet and possibly adopt the dog of interest. In addition, those who live in a rental property are expected to provide proof that they are allowed to have a dog where they live.
Each of our rescued dogs has been de-wormed if necessary, de-flea'd (with topical treatment if old enough, and by medicated bath if too young), spayed/neutered, microchipped, is up to date on shots, and has been fully examined by a veterinarian. In addition, each adopted dog comes with a starter baggie of the food it has been eating, a few treats for training purposes, a rawhide chew, a lead and collar, and a folder containing pertinent records.
