ABOUT:
Jean Lafitte may have been named after a pirate because this boy will steal your heart.

Lafitte was found as a stray in NE Louisiana. When he arrived at the open admission shelter, his eye was all red and bulging out. Staff commented that as much pain as he was in, he was such a friendly boy. That friendly disposition found him a foster home pretty quickly. His eye was removed, and our foster mom reached out to us because she thought he would be a good addition to our cat center in Frankfort. He had done well with a slow introduction to a sassy kitten, and he was learning to be at ease with dogs. We quickly agreed, but then while he was finishing up his vetting, we found out he was Feline Leukemia Positive (FeLV). Our commitment didn’t waiver, we just had to change course. Lafitte, because of his FeLV+ status, needs to be the only cat, or with other FeLV+ cats. FeLV is only transmittable to other cats-not humans or other species of animals.

Jean Lafitte-the explorer. When his carrier was opened at his new Illinois foster home, he immediately started searching every nook and cranny of the room. He appeared to be very busy searching for buried treasure or was channeling his inner beagle. He’s a curious guy who after a long day of exploring would be perfectly fine relaxing on your lap. He is super affectionate and loves to receive pets while sitting on laps. He will head butt your hand to let you know he’s not quite done.

Jean Lafitte loves his toys. He is a young, playful guy. His favorite toys are those that keep him running around. Some of his favorites are wand toys and the round ball chaser. He would do best in a home where he will get exercise and cuddle sessions. His purr motor is always ready. He can be picked up and held, but he would prefer not to be carried around. His favorite spot is on laps. He is a very hearty eater. He LOVES his wet food so he would appreciate that continuing. Another request is you keep the Temptations coming! He demands his share from his foster mom every morning. He is fastidious in using his litter box, and is a very clean cat.
