My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

COURTESY POST – Poppy – Available for Adoption

Poppy was living outdoors by herself being fed and looked after by some neighbors who later brought her to a shelter. The shelter was very stressful for Poppy so she was moved to a foster home to await adoption. At first she was a little jumpy, but she is not one to hide under the bed. She quickly adapted to living inside, enjoying long naps on the couch, kneading soft blankets with her paws, and even burrowing under comforters. She loves food, especially treats. She makes an adorable little high pitched meow at dinner time, but is otherwise a quiet cat. Most of the time she is very laid back and low key, but she loves wrestling around with her toys and occasionally sprinting around the house. She is ten years old but even her vet agrees she looks and acts much younger than that!

Poppy loves to be around people. She always wants to see what is going on, and will be in whatever room you're in, either sitting on the couch with you, stretched out on the rug while you're working, or watching you cook in the kitchen. She will be there to greet you when you get home and will be waiting patiently outside your door for you to get up in the morning. Although she's social, she currently does not like to be petted very much. Sometimes she will enjoy some scratches on the head, but if she gets overwhelmed, she might swat your hand away or give a nip to show you she's done. This is something that may change over time as she gets more comfortable in a home. But for this reason, she will probably be best in a household that is familiar with cat behavior and probably one that has no children, or older children that will respect her space. If you're looking for an adorable cat who will love being in your presence, and will follow you around the house, but is still low maintenance and easy to care for, Poppy might be the cat for you!

Poppy is approximately 10 years old, spayed, combo tested negative and vaccinated. If you are interested, please contact Boston’s Forgotten Felines on Facebook or at catadoptions@bostonsforgottenfelines.org!
